Chris Algieri

Chris graduated from Stony Brook University with Honors in May, 2007 with a B.S. in Health Care Management and then went on to earn his Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from the New York Institute of Technology.  He is a certified Sports Nutritionist via the International Society of Sports Nutrition (CISSN) and frequently speaks at sports performance conferences, seminars and summits on various subjects relative to human performance and nutrition.

Chris has over 13 years of professional fight experience and has been featured on HBO PPV, HBO Boxing After Dark, NBC Primetime, Showtime EXTREME, PBC on Spike, ESPN Friday Night Fights, and NBC Sports.  His titles include Former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Jr. Welterweight Boxing Champion, ISKA World Welterweight Kickboxing Champion and WKA World Super Welterweight Kickboxing Champion.  Following Ring Magazine’s Upset of 2014, during which Chris defeated defending champion Ruslan Provodnikov at the Barclay’s Center, he moved up in weight to fight the future Hall of Famer, Manny Pacquiao, in Macao China on HBO Pay Per View.  He lost the decision to the Philippino Great, but earned great respect in defeat.  The world tour that preceded the build up to the fight saw seven countries and exposed Chris to fans from all over the world.

“I’ve been studying the art and science of food for almost two decades, putting what I’ve learned to the test at the highest level. I’ve used my body as a test subject and through experience have studied the effects of training and nutrition on human performance. My work inside the ring and out has brought me to the highest level of competition in one of the most brutal and demanding sports in the world. This has given me unique insight into the lives and training of elite athletes from many different sports.

Aside from the performance and sports science aspect of food, I love to cook and share meals. I come from backgrounds (Argentinean on my mother’s side and Italian on my father’s side) that stress the importance of food culture and community. I grew up with a sense that the food we prepare and share is more than just macros and micros. My passion and understanding of food preparation comes across in my cooking. Anyone who enjoys cooking, loves to share their creations with others.”
